Access management is the systematic control of the location, spacing, design, and operation of driveways, median openings, interchanges, and street connections to a roadway.  National research has demonstrated multiple benefits associated with good access management.  Despite its benefits, principles of access management are often difficult to implement and can be accompanied by legal challenges.  This workshop will take a look at how local governments can integrate access management into their existing plans, create safer roadways for all users and facilitate economic growth and development.

Topics that will be addressed include:

  • Access Management overview & legal concerns
  • Planning & Implementing access management
  • What are Georgia and the Atlanta region doing?
